How to Embed Spotify in Notion (Playlists & Tracks)

To embed Spotify in Notion, open the playlist, album, or track in Spotify, click Share → Copy link, and paste it into a /embed block on your Notion page. The Spotify player renders inline and you can browse the track list. Full-song playback only works in Notion's web version (in a browser where you're already signed into Spotify) — the Notion desktop and mobile apps will show previews.

Why embed Spotify in Notion?

  • Keep a focus or study playlist on your main Notion dashboard.
  • Add a soundtrack to a mood board or project page.
  • Share a playlist with a team or readers without leaving Notion.

How to embed Spotify in Notion

  1. Copy the Spotify share link

In the Spotify web player or desktop app, click the … menu (or Share) on a playlist, album, or track and choose Copy link. The URL must start with https://open.spotify.com/ — spotify:track: URIs copied from the desktop app will not embed.

  2. Embed it in Notion

Type /embed on a Notion page, press Enter, paste the Spotify link, and click "Embed link". A compact player renders in the block.

  3. Resize the player

Drag the handles to size the player. Playlists look best taller so the track list is visible; a single track works in a short block.

Good to know

  • Notion's desktop app and mobile apps only play 30-second previews. Notion's own docs note that embeds requiring an external login don't work properly in the desktop or mobile apps, so the Spotify session never carries over.
  • Full-song playback works in Notion's web version (notion.so in a browser) only when you're already signed into Spotify in the same browser. The embed reads your Spotify session cookie; without it, you get previews.
  • Spotify's iframe playback has had intermittent CSP-related outages since April 2025 (frame-ancestors restriction). If the player loads visually but won't start, refresh the page or try a different browser.
  • Playlists must be public. Private and collaborative-private playlists won't embed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Spotify Premium to embed in Notion?

No. Embedding a public playlist or track is free for anyone. Premium affects which songs play in full vs shuffle-with-ads, but it doesn't change whether the embed loads. The bigger gating factor is your login state, not your plan.

Why is my Spotify embed only playing previews?

Either you're not signed into Spotify in the browser where you opened Notion, or you're using the Notion desktop/mobile app. The embed needs a live Spotify session cookie to authorise playback; without it, Spotify falls back to 30-second previews.

Can I get full song playback in the Notion desktop app or mobile app?

Not through the standard embed. The Notion desktop and mobile apps don't share session cookies with your browser, so the Spotify embed can't see your login and only ever shows previews. Use Notion in a web browser (notion.so) and sign into Spotify in that same browser for full playback.

Can I embed a Spotify podcast episode?

Yes. Open the episode on Spotify, click Share → Copy link, and paste the link into a Notion /embed block. Podcasts use the same embed mechanism as music tracks and play in full without the previews-only limitation.

What's the best alternative for ambient music in Notion?

If you want full playback without Spotify's login restrictions, a self-hosted ambient widget is the simplest option — try our Retro Style LoFi Radio for one-click ambient streaming with no account or login required.

Prefer a calendar that looks native?

If you don’t need live event data, these widgets embed directly and match any Notion theme.
